*Sunday 11 October is our opening night and we’re hoping this will be the beginning of a new monthly Sunday swing dance in London.
To help us make this event a success, we’d love you to enjoy your food and drinks from the upstairs Doggetts Bar only during the evening. There’s a tempting menu of British pub classics and plenty to choose from at the bar, so grab a drink, settle in and make an evening of it. We've answered some of the most common questions about our Swing Dance classes and workshops below. If you still have questions, please get in touch with us today and our friendly team will be happy to help.
Can complete beginners come?
Absolutely! Many of our special events include a beginner-friendly class at the start of the evening, making them a great introduction to swing dancing. Check the individual event details to see what's included.
Do I need a partner?
No. You're welcome to come on your own, with a partner or with friends. We regularly rotate partners during the classes, making it easy to meet new people and dance with everyone.
What should I wear?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Some of our themed and vintage events encourage dressing up, while many people simply come in smart casual clothing. Just wear something you can move around in comfortably.
What shoes should I wear?
Comfortable flat shoes are ideal. Choose shoes that are secure on your feet and allow you to move easily around the dance floor. Avoid very high heels or shoes with overly grippy soles if possible.
What to Expect at a Typical Event
Whether you're joining us for your very first swing dance or you're a regular on the dance floor, our events are designed to be relaxed, friendly and great fun. Arrive in plenty of time to grab a drink, settle in and meet fellow dancers before the evening begins. Many of our events start with a beginner-friendly class, giving newcomers the chance to learn the basics while more experienced dancers can refresh their skills and warm up. As the music starts, enjoy social dancing with a live swing band or DJ in a welcoming atmosphere where partners are regularly rotated, so there's no need to bring a dance partner. Stay for as long as you like, dance the night away and make new friends along the way.
